Interest in Granular Synthesis

I am a data analyst by day and dancer/percussionist/keyboard player by night. Came across the concept of granular synthesis recently by way of the 1010music Lemondrop and started to read "Microsound" by Curtis Roads. The sound design possibilities excite me as a way to accompany modern dance!

I've got a wedding and a baby coming in the next few months so can't justify buying anything major. Recommendations on how to scratch the itch until some used ones start to hit the market?
