Am I wrong to be looking for an alternative sequencer than the Keystep?

I'm slowly getting into Modular but I've had a Keystep that I've used with other synths for years?

However, I'm interested in bleeps and bloops and despite the Keystep arguably being the better option, I'm tempted to get something like the Korg SQ-1, since the workflow would be more limited, more random and more abstract from typical music theory.

Any other step sequencer you'd recommend? Perhaps something that allows different loop lengths (ie to play 7/8) and would allow for microtonal aspects as well?

Thanks!
