Recording modular

What's your setup for recording modular? Do you mix on the rack and send a single (stereo) line out, or record each track? Do you record one track at a time or all together?

I was running one track through my Intellijel I/O and mixing the rest but always wanted to to post-production mixing to handle things like frequency masking but never could.

I also gave recording one track at a time a shot, but performances varied. It was especially an issue when one synth was modulating another, or multiple things were being modulated by the same source. Sometimes the result was interesting, but more often it wasn't good.

I recently got a bunch of 1/8-1/4 cables and it has made a world of difference. I can now record an entire performance in a single take and worry about the mix after. Of course, my setup is small, and currently I have more inputs on my interface than synth voices.

Curious to hear other people's approaches.
