MIDI to USB Question

Hi, I am back again with a question about using MIDI to USB cable.
Please, correct me if I am wrong:
a. Using a MIDI to USB cable I will be able to use a DAW, and from the DAW I can play virtual sounds (let's say pianoteq), and do recordings with almost no audio interference and very high quality, correct?
b. When an audio interface with MIDI is beneficial to use? Or you don't need to use one?
