Korg Electribe ES-1 Issues

Hi r/synthesizers, I have been having issues with my Korg Electribe ES-1 MKI. After several hours of tinkering, I have yet to find a solution to my problem. I have been having issues getting the "Audio In Thru" key to light, without this I cannot record any samples. I have formated the SmartMedia card several times over and that has provided me with no answers.
If anyone has any suggestions or solutions, please do post them, I have all night to go through this.
