Made Uncertainty into an open-source software platform for working with gates

We got a really warm response when we posted about Uncertainty a couple weeks ago and at least one person expressed interest in being able to write their own firmware. So we documented how to work with the hardware, published the default firmware, and wrote a little example firmware in MicroPython: https://gitlab.com/oa-modular/uncertainty

Uncertainty has a 5v bipolar input usable for whatever and eight +5v gate outputs. Haven’t tried yet, but it should be quite capable of 8 channels of chiptune output, if you’re into half-rectified squares.

We’re going with the unlicense because we just want you to be able to make (or sell??) whatever code you want. Still keeping the hardware closed source for now, but we’d be happy to share specifics for people to learn from if interested. (I’m a little new to open-sourcing things like this. Interested in suggestions doing/documenting this better)

Posting this here because frankly nowhere on the internet seemed as interested in this module as here. If this is to promote-y, please let me know. Don’t want to mess up the vibes c:

submitted by /u/olivia_artz_modular
[link] [comments]
