How does a mixer’s FX Send work?

<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>I did watch a YouTube video on this but I still don’t get it. For example, looking at the Samson MXP 124FX, it has an FX Send output. So you send that to your effects pedal. But then what?
