Midi sequencer or how do you run your synths dawless?

<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>There are synths without sequencers, that I'd like to run live.</p> <p>There are two options: daw-based and dawless. </p> <p>Daw-based is flawed with the delay, it either has to be all-daw to be in total sync, or it needs delay fiddling and for some reason I can't make it workin sync really. But it allows for very complex pre-writing and easy (i.e. not interesting for me) play when live.</p> <p>dawless needs some synced midi data source for such synths like ms-20 that have no internal sequencer, but there are no delay issues. Also hardware sequencers can work really well in live scenarios with their record&amp;replace mechanics.</p> <p>For seqencerless synths there are midi controllers like arturia keystep with sequencers. </p> <p>I want to buy one and it seems like the keystep can do a lot of work on its own, but it lacks this classic sequencer feedback like others do (with 16 step LEDs lighting up, etc), and there is no apparent control of what you're doing (no display to show you the patterns or their names) except the sound itself.</p> <p>My two questions are: </p> <p>What other midi sequencers do you know that don't have the keystep disadvantages I mentioned in the &lt;300 euro range? Or just any others for me to compare, because I can't seem to find it as easily in google, whether any particular keybord has one, I even found out about keystep only after I downloaded its manual to see that it has clock input and output</p> <p>Is there anything I misunderstand in the statements above?
