korg sq64 with drum brute MIDI question

I'm using the 8 trigger outs for my modular, and was thinking of the drumbrute as extra voices. After plugging into the MIDI in of the brute it triggers on the same 8 channels as the cv triggers. I've looked on YouTube and the manual and can find nothing. I tried moving the note assignments and that didn't work. Any ideas?
