MAFD - alternatives? or it it the best way to control DFAM?

Thinking of going with the MAFD module and looking for other ways to trigger / work with my DFAM. I want to use my iPad to control my DFAM via CV.OCD (MIDI to CV) if not using MAFD. Looks like MAFD will let me go direct to DFAM without MIDI to CV conversion. Also, looks like it can trigger in any order, thus breaking 8 step limitation. Any other benefits?
