FM synths and ambient music

So it seems to me that almost every Volca FM jam, or any FM synth jam for that matter, I can find on YouTube is an ambient jam. I a barely understand anything about this synthesis method, but I understand it can create complex textures.

Is that why it is used so much in ambient music?

Can anyone point me in the direct of the Volca FM being used for something that's not ambient?

Can anyone point me to ambient music made using traditional subtractive synthesis?

Thank you and peace <3
