Kawai SX-210 no sound after power up?

Just bought this synth for a deal which has a fresh Ni-cad battery installed but came across something. During a cold power up of the synth after being unplugged overnight, it didn’t make a sound for about a minute or two but all the buttons still worked and the patch names were there though. After that it slowly made sound and 10 secs later it’s sound would be fully there.

Is this normal? Is it just the synth warming up?

I understand that these early 80s vintage synths may require some warming up time but all I’ve ever read was regarding tuning. When the sound comes back after a minute or two it sounds pretty stable, especially since it has a DCOs.

My Juno-106 never had problems with powering up and working straight away.
