Output levels on some of my 90's gear incredibly hot ...

Is this just a thing? I have a Technics WSA1R and a Kawai K5000s and both are outputting crazy hot compared to modern gear ... If I buy more 90's gear am I going to run into the same issues?

I'm just guessing the 90's was the wild west with respect to standards ...
