How would one go about getting these old Robert Hood/Jeff Mills synth tones?

The types of patches I’m talking about are the lead synths that play pretty much throughout these types of tracks:

Is it all FM? I know they were both using a lot of DX at the time. If so, could anyone give me guidance on how to get in the ballpark?
