Thoughts on Korg Modwave and Roland SH-4d

I was considering getting the Korg Modwave as wavetable seems quite attractive and I like the sound and design that I watch on youtube videos. Roland recently released SH-4d with 11 synth engines and, among them, there is a wavetable engine.

While the interface of the Modwave remains more attractive to me (e.g. the arrangement of the knobs and the Kaoss pad) I cannot ignore that SH-4d provides all this stuff for approximately the same cost. I really like what I see and hear for SH-4d but probably not as much as the modwave. Perhaps ambient sounds are better on the Roland? But that's more because of the other engines, I guess. I don't know what the combination of a wavetable with the timbres of a traditional subtractive synth can offer (I guess it is possible to combine engines on the SH-4d?)

I live in a small town where there is no place to try them myself, so I have to rely on youtube reviews and thoughts of people who either have these, or understand the differences between these two better than I do (newbie here). So any thoughts you can share will be highly appreciated.

submitted by /u/trivialBetaState
[link] [comments]
